- Abstract:
A recent study conducted by the University of Wah in Pakistan focused on the prevalence and associated risk factors of Brucella abortus and Brucella melitensis in humans and cattle populations in Southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The research found that the molecular frequency of Brucella melitensis and Brucella abortus was 16.5% in humans and 9.1% in cattle. Risk factors such as seasonality, geographic location, and insemination method were identified as significant contributors to brucellosis prevalence in cattle, while potential risk factors in humans included age, residency, socioeconomic status, gender, and contact with animals. The study highlights the importance of continuous surveillance and targeted preventive measures to control the transmission of brucellosis between cattle and humans. [Extracted from the article]
