      Research from Cleveland Clinic has examined the correlation between superior vena cava (SVC) measurements obtained through Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and central venous pressure (CVP) measurements in liver transplant patients. The study found a mild significant correlation between minimum and maximum SVC diameter and CVP, but the correlation between SVC collapsibility index and CVP was not significant. The research concluded that while statistically significant, the weak clinical correlation of intraoperative SVC measurements make them unsuitable as a replacement for CVP or thermodilution cardiac index measurements in liver transplant recipients.
