The article "The extraordinary floods of September 7 and 8, 2024 in the Sahara: analysis of the weekly predictions of the ECMWF" analyzes the floods in the northwest of the Sahara desert caused by an African easterly wave. The accumulated precipitation exceeded 200 millimeters, causing sudden floods with more than twenty deaths in Morocco and Algeria. The formation of hurricanes from these waves is highlighted, as well as the importance of African easterly waves in meteorological variability in the region. [Extracted from the article]

El artículo "Las extraordinarias inundaciones del 7 y 8 de septiembre de 2024 en el Sáhara: análisis de las predicciones semanales del ECMWF" analiza las inundaciones en el noroeste del desierto del Sahara causadas por una onda del este africana. Las precipitaciones acumuladas superaron los 200 milímetros, causando inundaciones repentinas con más de veinte fallecidos en Marruecos y Argelia. Se destaca la formación de huracanes a partir de estas ondas y la importancia de las ondas del este africano en la variabilidad meteorológica en la región. [Extracted from the article]
