    • Abstract:
The US CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended that adults aged 65 years and older and moderately or severely immunocompromised individuals receive a second dose of the 2024-2025 COVID-19 vaccine 6 months after their first dose. Additionally, individuals who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should receive 3 or more doses under shared clinical decision making. CDC Director Mandy Cohen endorsed these recommendations, emphasizing the importance of updated vaccinations to reduce the risk of severe illness from COVID-19. The ACIP also recommended lowering the age for vaccination against invasive pneumococcal disease and pneumococcal pneumonia from 65 to 50 years, advising all adults aged 50 and older to receive specific vaccines.
