- Abstract:
The article discusses the evolution of the cattle and beef trade between the United States and Mexico. The trade history between the two countries dates back to the U.S. Civil War and has continued to evolve over time. Mexico has been an important source of cattle imports for the U.S., with an average of 1.15 million head of cattle imported each year. Additionally, Mexico has been a significant market for U.S. beef exports, accounting for a large percentage of total exports in the past. The growth of beef exports from Mexico is attributed to the adoption of boxed beef technology, which allows for targeted products for specific markets. The trade relationship between the U.S. and Mexico has become more bilateral, with both countries benefiting from the exchange of diverse beef products. [Extracted from the article]
