- Abstract:
This letter is a response to an article that reviewed the outcomes of ventral TAPP surgery for ventral hernia repair. The authors of the letter agree with the original article's conclusion that ventral TAPP is superior to other minimally invasive techniques. They also mention other techniques that have emerged to mitigate the drawbacks of intraperitoneal mesh placement. However, they note that there is a lack of randomized controlled trials in the current study and that the selective nature of patient inclusion may have underestimated the challenges associated with the vTAPP technique. They also point out that the comparison between robotic and laparoscopic procedures could potentially obscure differences. Overall, the authors appreciate the valuable contribution of the original article and believe it will assist surgeons in adopting the vTAPP approach. [Extracted from the article]
