- Abstract:
NOPEC, an energy aggregator that supplies electricity and natural gas to Ohio communities, recently regained about 90% of its customers after temporarily shutting down half of its business in 2022. The decision to offload customers was made when electric rates skyrocketed, and NOPEC couldn't match the utilities' offering price. NOPEC's main supplier, NextEra Energy Services, supported the plan, understanding the long-term benefits. Despite objections from power companies, NOPEC was reinstated as an electricity aggregator by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio in 2023. NOPEC's customers have since returned, and the company continues to provide savings compared to standard rates. [Extracted from the article]
