- Abstract:
A recent clinical trial conducted by the University of Melbourne aimed to assess the effect of anti-androgens on breast development in transgender individuals. The trial compared the use of cyproterone acetate and spironolactone as anti-androgens alongside estradiol therapy. The results showed no significant difference in breast development between the two groups, but cyproterone acetate was more effective in suppressing serum testosterone levels. The researchers concluded that the choice of anti-androgen should be based on clinician and patient preference, taking into consideration side effects. Further research is needed to optimize breast development in transgender individuals. [Extracted from the article]
