    • Abstract:
A recent study conducted by researchers at Geisinger in Danville, Pennsylvania explored the safety and effectiveness of mechanical thrombectomy for different types of middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion strokes. The study found that outcomes varied depending on the specific location of the occlusion within the MCA. M2 superior occlusions had lower mortality rates and a trend towards better functional outcomes compared to M2 inferior occlusions. However, thrombectomy of dominant M2 inferior occlusions had similar outcomes to M1 occlusions. The study highlights the importance of considering MCA anatomy when determining the most appropriate treatment approach for stroke patients. [Extracted from the article]
