    • Abstract:
According to a report by American Student Assistance, offering internships and apprenticeships to high school students can benefit both companies and students. The report states that the majority of employers cited giving back to the community as an important reason for offering internships, while others mentioned helping students gain skills and exposing them to careers they may not have otherwise considered. Participating employers also reported that high school interns have strengthened their talent development and diversity initiatives. However, the report found that internships exclusively for high school students are rare, with only 5 percent of available internships being for high school students. The main barriers to offering such programs are determining suitable work, attracting qualified interns, and scheduling around students' availability. [Extracted from the article]
