    • Abstract:
Ayachi Zammel, the head of the opposition Azimoun party in Tunisia, has been sentenced to three years in jail on four counts of fabricating endorsements. This comes just days before the upcoming presidential vote, in which incumbent President Kais Saied is expected to win a second term. Zammel has already been sentenced on similar charges by other courts and denies all the charges against him. President Saied has faced criticism for his consolidation of power and suppression of dissent in what was once considered the most progressive democracy in the Arab world.
