The Place of Rational Choice in Human Voluntary Actions From the Point of View of Sadr ol- Motealehin. (English)

Mulla Sadra considers the speaking soul to have perceptive and executive functions. The human soul can make the right choice in the path of thought to action with the presence of practical reason during conflicts that may arise between the speaking power and other powers of the soul. This research intends to explain the choice in Sadra's works with a descriptive and analytical method; a choice that is only sometimes rational. To explain the truth of rational choice, Sadra pays attention to the roles that practical reason can play in the process of optional action. According to him, practical reason overcomes illusion and reflects on imaginary perceptions, sometimes it does not confirm them as useful. By standing against some animal passions (lust and anger), it prevents their aggravation. He carries out the minor matters that he himself has decreed to be permissible, good and beautiful, with resolute determination. Through an optional verb, the ego is continuously choosing. By fully fulfilling these roles, practical reason realizes a rational and good choice, and on the contrary, with the absence of practical reason, a bad and inhuman practical choice will definitely be formed. Human action is human only when the scientific part of the soul reaches a scientific and rational understanding and combines this understanding with a decisive determination that is achieved in the area of the practical part in the light of practical rationality.
