    • Abstract:
A recent study conducted by Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China has identified a novel species of Staphylococcus bacteria, known as Staphylococcus argenteus, which can cause serious bloodstream infections in infants. The study analyzed the molecular characteristics of a strain of Staphylococcus argenteus isolated from a seven-month-old female infant. The strain was found to possess antibiotic-resistance genes and virulence genes, and was resistant to penicillin. The research highlights the potential of this strain to induce severe infections in infants and provides insights into its molecular characteristics. [Extracted from the article]
