- Additional Information
- Abstract:
A study conducted by researchers from Manipal Academy of Higher Education compared the effects of over-the-counter (OTC) tooth whitening products purchased from an online marketplace with a dentist-prescribed at-home bleaching agent. The study found that the dentist-prescribed product resulted in greater tooth whitening, less reduction in enamel microhardness, and fewer surface changes compared to the lowest-rated OTC product. The highest-rated OTC product was comparable to the dentist-prescribed agent. The study provides valuable insights into the efficacy and potential risks of OTC tooth whitening products.
