- Abstract: This research explores the impact of preposing and postposing in the figurative language of Ibn alRumi's poetry. It aims to uncover how these syntactic techniques create new meanings within figurative sentences and how Ibn al-Rumi utilized them to enhance poetic expression. The study begins with an introduction, followed by a preface defining preposing and postposing and their impact on syntactic structure, as well as their importance in sentence construction. The main body of the research is divided into two sections that examine preposing and postposing in nominal and verbal sentences. The findings highlight numerous examples demonstrating the influence of these techniques on the construction of nominal and verbal sentences in Ibn al-Rumi's figurative language, with varying meanings based on context. The majority of preposing examples involve placing the predicate phrase before the indefinite subject to achieve exclusivity and specification. Furthermore, preposing and postposing in Ibn al-Rumi's figurative expressions serve multiple purposes, particularly in satire, where they are used to mock and ridicule the subject.
