Varmora Granito sets up Rs 400-cr manufacturing plants in Morbi.

Varmora Granito, a company backed by Carlyle, has invested Rs 400 crore in setting up two manufacturing plants in Morbi, Gujarat. The plants have a combined manufacturing capacity of 17 million sq. mtrs. per annum and will increase Varmora's total capacity to 58 million sq. mtrs. One of the plants will use a new technology called Integrated Stone Technology (IST) sourced from Italy, which replicates the features of natural marble and offers a stronger, stain-proof, and cheaper option. The second plant will manufacture tiles and bathwares. The company operates 15 manufacturing plants in Morbi and exports make up 20% of its total sales.
