History and future prospect of active surveillance for adult patients with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma. (English)

Active surveillance for adult patients with low-risk papillary thyroid microcarcinoma started at Kuma Hospital in 1993 has been adopted by guidelines conducted by Japan Association of Endocrine Surgery (JAES) and American Thyroid Association. In 2021, consensus statements and position paper have been published from JAES and Japan Th yroid Association, respectively. Th is management can be safely implemented, if patients are appropriately chosen, and contributes largely to the improvements of patientsʼ quality of life. 1993年に隈病院ではじまった成人の低リスク微小乳頭癌（以下，微小癌）のアクティブ・サーベイランス は，その後，日本内分泌外科学会・日本甲状腺外科学会発行の『甲状腺腫瘍診療ガイドライン』や，アメリ カ甲状腺学会（ATA）のガイドラインに採用された。さらに，2021年に日本内分泌外科学会からconsensus statementsが，そして日本甲状腺学会からposition paperが出版されるに至った。このマネジメントはきちん と症例を選べば安全に行え，患者のQOL向上に大いに寄与するものである。 　本稿ではその歴史，現状，そして将来の展望について述べた。 [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
