- Abstract: The research “Roman Methods of Controlling the Southern Arabian Peninsula” aims at highlighting the importance of the Arabian Peninsula in international trade and discussing the reasons and consequences of Roman ambitions in controlling this Peninsula in general, and the Southern Arabian Peninsula in particular, through the Roman campaign that aimed at controlling the South of the Peninsula in 24 BC by the order of the Roman Emperor Augustus and under the leadership of the governor of Egypt (Aelius Gallus). The research aims to trace the path of this campaign, uncover its objectives, reasons, and the consequences of its failure. The research relies on the historical analytical comparative method to show the various Roman methods of controlling the southern Arabian Peninsula and international maritime trade between the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
