    • Abstract:
A recent study published in the Planetary Science Journal describes the discovery of unusual surface features on the moon that suggest the presence of underground caves. These features, called "spiders," consist of gullies that formed when lunar soil flowed into a central indentation. The researchers found several spiders in the Mare Tranquillitatis region, which has a volcanic past. The study authors believe that these spiders are evidence of larger voids underground and warn that future explorers should be cautious of potentially dangerous caverns on the moon.
