- Abstract:
Home altars are a longstanding tradition in Christianity, originating from the early church. They serve as intimate spaces for spiritual remembrance of God and can be as simple as a cross or crucifix. In Latin American Catholicism, home altars reflect a syncretism of Indigenous beliefs and Spanish Catholic practices, providing women with a self-made role in worship and culture. Personal home altars can be meaningful and diverse, incorporating objects that hold personal significance and memories. Ultimately, home altars remind individuals that God is present in the little things and in the connections between kindred souls. [Extracted from the article]
