The article focuses on the limitations of traditional reading comprehension assessments and introduces innovative approaches like MOCCA and GISA. It critiques the conventional method for its artificial question prompts, lack of diagnostic depth, and motivational issues, and presents MOCCA's emphasis on causally coherent inferences and GISA's (Global Integrated Scenario-based Assessment) use of multiple texts and authentic tasks to better assess and engage students.
