- Abstract:
The European Central Bank (ECB) Vice President, Luis de Guindos, expressed his hope that the Spanish government will appoint a new central bank chief by September. The position has been vacant since June, with Deputy Governor Margarita Delgado currently serving as acting chief. The Spanish government is in negotiations with the opposition People's Party to make the appointment, but they have the power to fill the position even without reaching an agreement.
