- Abstract:
The article discusses that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources acquired the Lone Star property in north-central Illinois, a former mining site rich in ponds, wetlands, and rivers, and initiated an Odonata survey to document its biodiversity. Over several trips in 2023, the survey identified 31 dragonfly and 20 damselfly species, representing a significant portion of Illinois' odonate diversity, despite some limitations in the survey scope and timing.
