    • Abstract:
A recent study conducted in Bolu, Turkey, explored the expression levels of cytokines in children and adolescents with tic disorders (TDs). The researchers found that children with TDs had elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1b, TNF-a, IL-6, and IL-4, while they had lower expression levels of IL-17. These findings suggest a potential proinflammatory state in children with TDs, regardless of comorbidity and symptom severity. The study highlights the importance of understanding the role of immune system alterations in the development of tic disorders for better therapeutic interventions. [Extracted from the article]
