    • Abstract:
A study conducted by the University of Southern Florida has presented data on a 6-month field trial of a transitional intervention for debilitating hyperacusis. The intervention involved structured counseling, promotion of safe sound exposure, and therapeutic broadband sound from sound generators. The study found that the intervention was successful in improving the hyperacusis conditions of 11 out of 12 participants, reducing their sound avoidance behaviors and reliance on sound protection. The research was funded by the National Institute for Deafness and other Communicative Disorders, National Institutes of Health (NIH) - USA. [Extracted from the article]
