    • Abstract:
A recent report has shown that 90 percent of companies plan to implement return-to-office (RTO) policies by the end of 2024, despite the preference for remote work among a significant segment of the working population. However, many employees are resistant to returning to the office, with almost half stating that they would quit or look for a new job if their employer mandated a full-time return. In response, HR and employee experience strategists are turning to facility management (FM) for new ideas to develop more compelling value propositions for in-office work. FM's knowledge of commercial real estate trends, Internet of Things (IoT) data analytics, and agile workspaces can help create appealing physical spaces for top talent. This includes renovating unused spaces and integrating luxury amenities, as well as implementing low-voltage infrastructure for multipurpose workspaces. FM's expertise in data analytics can also help develop real-time insights into employee preferences and make on-the-fly changes to workspace layouts. By combining FM's innovative ideas with HR's understanding of employee expectations, organizations can develop RTO initiatives that are inclusive, executable, and affordable.
