    • Abstract:
Sibur Holding, Russia's largest producer of petrochemicals, has announced plans to invest $2 billion in the construction of an ethylbenzene (EB) and styrene unit, as well as a downstream polystyrene (PS) complex in Tatarstan. The new plants will expand the site's total capacity by 1 million metric tons per year and are expected to be completed by 2028. The projects aim to make Russia self-sufficient in PS and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and reduce the country's reliance on imports. Sibur will supply the plants with feedstock from its EP-600 naphtha cracker. Additionally, Sibur plans to increase Russia's PS capacity by almost a quarter, covering the current volumes of imports.
