- Alternate Title: BEYOND THE DESERT: The shell and multiplicity in the Post-anthropocene landscape. (English)
- Abstract: For a long time, our way of thinking has been centered on the human figure as the main agent of transformations in the planet's landscape. Rooted in the dichotomous opposition of culture and nature, this thinking is inserted into a broader context: the geological era named the Anthropocene. The climate emergency resulting from the Anthropocene raises predictions that the planet will no longer support the way of life currently imposed by capitalist Western society, leading to an equivalence between the extinction of human life and the extinction of life in general, including the myriad existences on Earth. As an object of thought, this article uses a shell found during an empirical research, treated as an archaeological artifact. The conceptual debate follows the trace of this fragment from the present time, as well as being based on the materiality and histories of the landscapes where the shell was found. It also follows the notions of the Desert by Elisabeth Povinelli (2023), and Relational Landscapes by Anna Tsing (2019). The aim is thus to ontologically discuss possibilities of complex post-anthropocentric landscapes, moving beyond the duality of nature/culture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
