- Abstract: According to a recent survey, Americans are not as deeply divided and polarized as commonly believed. The study found that there is significant agreement on national goals across all segments of the population, including supporters of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The article argues that polarization is largely driven by elites and activists, while ordinary Americans hold more moderate views and are willing to get along with those from the other party. It also discusses the influence of conformity bias, where people may not accurately express their true opinions due to pressure to conform to a certain narrative. The article emphasizes the role of media in shaping opinions and suggests that respectful dialogue and understanding different perspectives can help bridge the perceived divide.
