      The article provides understanding of the evolving risk factors and pathophysiology of anxiety disorders and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Topics discussed include shifting categorizations of anxiety and traumatic stress, prevalence of anxiety disorders and PTSD, epidemiological and mechanistic recognition of complex and developmental trauma, risk factors such as gender, cormorbid conditions, COVID-19 and youth anxiety regarding climate changes, and patterns in diagnosis and treatment.
