[Extracted from the article]
- Abstract: The article titled "The future of history teaching: new perspectives for a new society" addresses the need to propose new perspectives in history teaching. The importance of historical thinking in the teaching of the discipline is highlighted, and the need to improve the teaching and learning processes of history in primary and secondary education is raised. The distancing between researched history and history taught in the classroom is also problematized, as well as the role of history in the formation of identities and nationalist aspects. The articles in the publication focus on topics such as hate speech from a gender perspective, the emotional effects on Chilean students when investigating memory documents, the development of historical thinking through work on controversial topics, and the transformation of social representations of history and historians in basic education students. Additionally, it is mentioned how Chilean teachers have approached topics with a critical perspective in contrast to the traditional curriculum. [Extracted from the article]
