"Rural Transformations and Rural Crime: International Critical Perspectives in Rural Criminology" edited by Bowden and Harkness explores the impact of rural transformations on safety and security. "Woman Abuse in Rural Places" by DeKeseredy focuses on violence against women in rural areas, challenging the notion of social disorganization theory.
