- Additional Information
- Abstract:
The authors of this article are responding to comments made by other researchers regarding their study on tracheal intubation in critically ill patients. They agree with the urgency of finding strategies to improve cardiovascular stability during intubation and highlight the need to explore alternatives to the sedative agent propofol, especially in hypotensive patients. The authors also confirm that video laryngoscopy is associated with greater success in intubation and recommend its use in ICU airway management. They acknowledge the limitations of their study and suggest further research to better understand the impact of pharmacologic selections on clinical outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
