    • Abstract:
This article provides an overview of the public health response to COVID-19 in the Kyrgyz Republic. The country faced challenges in its healthcare system, including a shortage of medical personnel, poor working conditions, and low wages. Nonpharmaceutical interventions were lifted prematurely, resulting in a surge in cases and overwhelming the healthcare system. Government ineffectiveness and corruption further hindered the response. Recommendations include strengthening the healthcare workforce, improving recruitment and retention efforts, and addressing government corruption. The article emphasizes the importance of adhering to nonpharmaceutical interventions and protecting healthcare personnel. The government must address these issues to effectively handle future public health emergencies. [Extracted from the article]
