    • Abstract:
During the COVID-19 pandemic, independent bookstores faced challenges as they were forced to close their doors. However, many bookstores found ways to connect with and support their communities. Some bookstores implemented new ideas such as selling books outside for browsing and hosting online events. Despite the difficulties, the industry grew stronger, with 215 new independent bookstores opening in 2021. These bookstores not only serve as places to buy books but also as important community spaces. To support local bookstores, individuals can buy books from them, attend their events, and spread the word about their importance. [Extracted from the article]
