    • Abstract:
This article explores the restrictive policies being implemented by provincial leaders in Canada that limit the rights of trans youth, with a focus on the experiences of two trans youth, Jasper and Samantha, and their families in Alberta. These policies require parental notification and consent for name and pronoun changes in schools, and propose a ban on gender-affirming hormones and surgeries for those under 16. Medical groups have criticized these policies, viewing them as a rollback of rights for trans youth. The article also discusses the rise of anti-trans legislation in other provinces, such as New Brunswick and Saskatchewan, and highlights the negative impact of these policies on transgender youth, including increased bullying and discrimination. It emphasizes the importance of support and advocacy for transgender rights. [Extracted from the article]
