      A recent trial found that a single session of a telehealth intervention combining mindfulness and compassion can significantly reduce self-perceived stress, depression, and anxiety. The trial included 91 participants aged 18-70 who were sheltering at home during the pandemic and endorsed loneliness as a top issue affecting them. The participants were randomized into three groups: mindfulness-only, mindfulness and compassion, and a waitlist control group. The mindfulness and compassion group showed reductions in stress, anxiety, and depression compared to the control group. The researchers suggest that this brief intervention could be easily adopted in various contexts, but further research with larger samples and longer follow-up periods is needed.
