    • Abstract:
Aditya Kunjapur, a biomolecular engineer and professor at the University of Delaware, has won the 2024 BioInnovation Institute & Science Prize for Innovation. Kunjapur and his colleagues have developed a method to engineer bacteria that can produce and incorporate a key amino acid into their own proteins, potentially improving the efficacy of bacterial vaccines. This research could lead to a decrease in the need for antibiotic medicines and help combat antibiotic resistance. Kunjapur hopes to work towards a vaccine for staph infections and has co-founded Nitro Biosciences, Inc. to pursue this technology. [Extracted from the article]
