    • Abstract:
A recent study challenges the common theory that agriculture arose from a shift in diet from hunting and gathering to cultivating plants. The study focuses on the Iberomaurusians, a late Stone Age hunter-gatherer group in Morocco, who had a largely plant-based diet despite never cultivating the plants they ate. The researchers analyzed human remains from the group and found evidence of a diet similar to herbivores, although meat was also consumed. The study suggests that there were alternative pathways to food production and that not all societies transitioned to agriculture. [Extracted from the article]
