The article "Islam, Gender, Politics in the Maghreb and the Mashrek - Conceptual considerations on a dynamic relationship" examines the conception of gender, power, and Islam in gender studies in the Maghreb and the Mashrek. It raises questions about the establishment of hierarchical gender relations in the process of nation-building, the impact of coloniality, and the transformation of gender politics through the neoliberalization of the state. Furthermore, it investigates how gender politics change when religion gains significance in the context of the erosion of statehood. Der Artikel "Islam, Geschlecht, Politik im Maghreb und im Mashrek – Konzeptionelle Überlegungen zu einem dynamischen Verhältnis" untersucht die Konzeption von Geschlecht, Macht und Islam in der Geschlechterforschung im Maghreb und Mashrek. Es werden Fragen zur Etablierung hierarchischer Geschlechterverhältnisse im Prozess der Nationenbildung, zur Wirkung von Kolonialität und zur Veränderung der Geschlechterpolitik durch die Neoliberalisierung des Staates gestellt. Außerdem wird untersucht, wie sich Geschlechterpolitiken verändern, wenn Religion im Kontext des Abbaus von Staatlichkeit an Bedeutung gewinnt.
