      The article focuses on the struggle of Russian Army in recruiting women for the war in Ukraine. It reveals the recruitment of former and current female inmates to replenish the ranks of the Russian military, but which contradicts social policies, ideology and vision of Russian President Vladimir V. Putin for women. It compares the cautious approach of Russia to military participation of women to the liberal policy of Ukraine.
