    • Abstract:
Data governance is crucial for organizations as it recognizes the value of data as an asset. This study focuses on identifying factors that influence the implementation of data governance in Indonesian public higher education institutions. Contingency theory serves as the theoretical lens of this study, and qualitative research methodology is employed. Findings reveal that both internal and external factors impact data governance implementation in universities. Future research should involve more participants to gain comprehensive insights, and exploring the impact of data governance implementation within university settings would provide valuable insights.
