    • Abstract:
A recent study conducted by researchers from the University of Maryland examined the prognostic value of somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs) in patients with traumatic cervical spinal cord injury (tCSCI). The study found that the detection of lower extremity SSEP signals during initial surgical treatment of tCSCI was associated with greater improvement in motor scores postoperatively. This association was most applicable to patients with complete injuries. The findings suggest that SSEPs may serve as a useful tool for predicting functional outcomes in tCSCI patients.
