- Abstract:
A recent study conducted by researchers at the Alexandria Faculty of Medicine focused on the use of levothyroxine therapy in patients with autoimmune hypothyroidism. The study aimed to determine the optimal weight-based doses of levothyroxine needed to achieve target thyrotropin levels in different degrees of hypothyroidism. The study found that the weight-based dose of levothyroxine varied depending on the severity of hypothyroidism, with higher doses required for more severe cases. Additionally, age and body weight subcategories were found to be important factors in determining the appropriate dosage. This study provides valuable insights for clinicians in managing autoimmune hypothyroidism. [Extracted from the article]
