    • Abstract:
How do Chinese people in the new media era remember national heroes? When short videos become an important carrier of heroic memory, social platforms become an important medium for memory diffusion. Memory is passed down in different media and different intergenerational transitions, which reflects its strong uniqueness. The work analyzed the memorial videos of the Martyr Wei Wang on the Chinese Douyin platform from 2016 to 2022. The commemoration of heroes had obvious ritualized characteristics, and there was a high degree of convergence of meanings behind the complex and diverse commemorative texts. The memorial space reflected a clear direction of rise and revival in the process of being constantly reshaped and changed. Meanwhile, audiences showed a high degree of emotional resonance and value recognition for the narrative logic carried by heroic memory. In addition, there is some phenomenon of false memory in the process of commemorating heroes by digital media. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
