    • Abstract:
Lesley Lokko is a renowned architect, academic, and author who has made significant contributions to the field of architecture. She has established the University of Johannesburg's Graduate School of Architecture and has written over a dozen novels. As the curator of the Architecture Biennale, she showcased "The Laboratory of the Future," which featured 89 participants, with a focus on artists from Africa and the African diaspora, as well as gender parity. Lesley's achievements, including being the first Black woman to win the Royal Institute of British Architects' gold medal, challenge the dominant perspective in architecture and bring fresh perspectives and passions to the field.
