    • Abstract:
Vitiligo is a chronic skin disorder characterized by depigmentation or hypopigmentation of the skin and mucosa. The etiology of this disease is unknown, but there are several theories that explain the loss of epidermal melanocytes in vitiligo. The pathophysiology of vitiligo includes autoimmune mechanism, cytotoxic, biochemical, oxidant- antioxidant, neural, and virus. The lesions of vitiligo are macules and depigmented patches with distinct margins. Diagnosis of vitiligo uses histopathological biopsy for cases that are atypical or doubtful. The classifications are segmental vitiligo, acrofacial, generalized, and universal, or by pattern of involvement as focal, mixed, and the mucosa. Laboratory examinations are helpful, including thyroid stimulating hormone level, anti-nuclear antibody, and complete blood count. Histological examination found no melanocytes in the skin lesions. Treatments are topical corticosteroids, topical imunumodulator, PUVA, NBUVB, excimer laser, and surgery. The objective of this study was to determine the profile of vitiligo patients at dr. Sitanala Hospital from the medical record period of January 2020 until Juny 2023.The study design used a descriptive study. • Abstract:
