- Abstract:
A study conducted by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) in 2023 found that volunteers in their programs experience high levels of satisfaction and perceive benefits such as improved pride in work, well-being, and work enjoyment. The study revealed that factors such as employer support and personal motivation have a greater impact on volunteers' satisfaction and perceived benefits than their individual characteristics. Volunteers who receive greater support from their employers and have a desire to self-develop and advance their careers reported greater benefit from the experience. The study also found that volunteers who volunteered for more than three hours perceived greater benefits. The results suggest that volunteer managers and employers should encourage a greater commitment from volunteers rather than one-off experiences. Additionally, the study showed that employees from all levels of a company can feel engaged and benefit from volunteering, which can improve employee morale and engagement.
