    • Abstract:
Mexico's billionaires have seen their wealth increase significantly since President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador took office in 2018. The net worth of the five richest billionaires has grown twice as much as the rest of Latin Americans in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with Carlos Slim and German Larrea's fortunes more than doubling. Several factors have contributed to this increase, including a rally in the peso, fiscal austerity measures, and the lack of action against the dominant market share held by many of these billionaires. Despite Lopez Obrador's anti-billionaire rhetoric, his policies have not effectively addressed wealth inequality in Mexico. [Extracted from the article]
