- Abstract:
Julie Robinson Belafonte, a dancer and actress, passed away at the age of 95. She was known for her 50-year marriage to Harry Belafonte, which helped challenge the stigma of interracial relationships in the 1950s and '60s. Julie was the first white member of Katherine Dunham's all-Black dance company and played a significant role in integration efforts, working alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. She also organized a women's march against the Vietnam War in 1968. Julie's advocacy and passion for people made a lasting impact on the nation. [Extracted from the article]
